The goal of substance abuse screening is to identify individuals who have or are developing alcohol or drug-related problems and provide the appropriate level of treatment. We aim to help people overcome an addiction and stay drug-free. Our treatment program will depend on the drug used and any related medical or mental health disorders the clients may have.
Our assessment and referral for the substance use process include:

- motivational interviewing, a short-term counseling method that helps individuals change their behavior

We screen for:
- Substance abuse
- Pregnancy considerations
- Immediate risks related to intoxication or withdrawal
- Immediate risks for self-harm, suicide, and violence
- Past and present mental disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and eating disorders
- Past and present history of violence and trauma
- Health screenings for HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and STDs
